The Division of Media Properties oversaw the integration of three new major technologies to improve operations, including:
- Grove, a content management system developed by NPR is a more powerful platform with a cleaner and more seamless design that allows the audience to listen to audio content uninterrupted as they move across the site.
- NewsBoss, a more user-friendly experience for students and staff reporters and producers that make it easier to share audio assets and scripts between users, creating a more efficient workflow and adding infinite audio storage that had not been available with the stations' prior system.
- Ross Overdrive is automation technology used in the WUFT-TV control room that allows students to gain experience with an industry-grade product and prepares them for directing roles in television stations across the U.S. The use of automation in news and weather emergencies will also allow for more robust coverage on WUFT-TV.
Other notable achievements in 2023 include:
- A partnership with Futuri Media to use Futuri’s RadioGPT™ AI technology with multi-platform GHQ, making GHQ one of the first radio stations in the world to use this service to better connect to audiences.

The award recognizes and rewards excellence in productivity and highlights individuals and teams who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to finding innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in public service.
