Career Resources and Opportunities

The Office of Careers and Corporate Partnerships (OCCP) continues to focus on ways to connect CJC students with top employers by expanding its global network and providing new ways to engage. Highlights from the office’s 2023 additions include:

  • Holding the inaugural CJC Senior Showcase in March. This reverse career fair allowed for graduating students to display their portfolios while employers visited their tables to learn more.
  • Co-sponsoring a trip of 26 students to an Atlanta career fair. This trip provided students the opportunity to connect with national agencies not previously recruiting from UF.
  • Launching a CRM system to better track and maintain communications with employers.
  • Introducing CJC Career Week to emphasize career preparation activities for students the week leading up to the College's career fair.
  • Adding a virtual career fair to provide a recruiting solution for our online students as well as for employers not able to travel to Gainesville.

Also this year, the office continued its core programs, including maintaining the job/internship board. They hosted career-prep workshops, student/professional networking events, and employer visits, including the Los Angeles Times, McClatchy, Report for America and BCW. CJC corporate partner TEGNA sponsored career-development bootcamps and interview days.

In 2023, OCCP held two in-person career fairs. The Spring Careers in Communication Fair attracted 54 companies and 342 students, and the Fall career fair brought 29 companies and 443 students. Also, this past year, theCJC Gator-to-Gator Coaching Program matched 70 students with alumni working in their field of interest.
